Hot Hair Trends for 2015?

4 / 17 / 15

2015-hair-trends-spring-summer

Every year there are always plenty of exciting hair trends to choose from – but this year there’s one stand out trend that is head and shoulders above the rest! Long hair is back, so cancel that haircut and let your bob grow out. And what can you do with it when you’ve grown it? This year’s catwalks were overflowing with fabulous long locks and super styling.

The long and the short of it

Of course, long hair’s not for everyone. For some people it’s not practical, while for other’s it simply doesn’t work. But rest assured if you’re not one for long, there are plenty of short cuts out there too so you can make the best of it with a hot new look.

midlength-hair-trends-2015-spring-summer

  • Below the shoulder – medium-length and longer hair is definitely dominating hair fashion at the moment, mostly worn layered and relaxed, with an emphasis on good colour. Centre partings have been much in evidence with longer hair styles.

brunette-hair-trends-2015-spring-summer-trend

  • When it comes to colour, brunette shades are having a moment – from glossy chestnut to soft brown with honey highlights to glistening auburn with hints of copper. Keep it in tip top condition so it shines and you’ll look simply amazing.

ombre-bob-hairstyle-trends-2015-spring-summer

  • Chic bobs are never out of style and this year’s look is for a slightly longer cut bob. The benefit is that they’re easy to manage and low maintenance – perfect if your style is smart and sophisticated. But choppy, tousled bobs are also getting a look in and go great with tomboy styling, if that’s your thing.

redhair-trends-2015-spring-summer

  • Flaming shades of red are also bang on trend – long or layered, auburn, red and copper are super popular right now. Think Christina Hendricks, Emma Stone or Scarlet Johansson and it doesn’t matter whether it’s natural or out of a bottle.

  • Plaits & Braids were simply huge on the catwalk this year and have also been regularly appearing on the red carpet. Full length plaits down the back or smaller plaits to hold back the fringe are popular, and most of them have a slightly scruffy demeanour!

celebrity-hair-trends-2015-spring-summer

  • A new celebrity trend is to go for a complete colour change – Reese Witherspoon rocking dark brown, Jourdan Dunn with a sexy blond bob, Nicole Richie with on trend pastel blue – they all look amazing and so could you if you’re brave enough for a total change.

  • If you’re blond, try having some ombre up-lights put in to add some texture and interest. Dirty blonde bedhead is also another hot trend – a little dishevelled and a lot of fun.

fringe-hair-trends-2015-spring-summer-trend

  • Fringes are in and if a fringe works for your face shape, go for it – it’s the cool, modern look and helps to frame your eyes beautifully.

  • Crimping was also spotted on the catwalks – a style that hasn’t been in for ages, but it looks great in pulled back pony tails. Another novelty in the fashion shows was slicked back, wet-look hair for a sleek and sophisticated vibe with a slightly harder edge.

  • Boho waves are also back in again after a good number of models have been spotted on the catwalk carrying the hair style

Make up Trends 2015 – Spring and Summer

3 / 23 / 154 / 29 / 15

kendall-kardashian-red-lips-catwalk

Every season brings hot new fashion trends – new colours, new shapes and new styles – and when it comes to makeup, it’s no different. So what are the hot tips for the forthcoming season and how can you incorporate them into your own unique look?

Let’s take a look at some of the most exciting trends that have started to emerge for 2015 – there’s a lot going on and there’s certainly something for everybody.

red-makeup-tips

  • Bold lips is one of the big ones – bright red, deep burgundy and even fiery orange were everywhere on the catwalks, defining one of the season’s key looks. For added interest go for a matt lipstick in a bright hue – it’s a thoroughly modern look.

smoky eyes make up trends 2015

  • Smoky eyes is normally a winter staple but you can use it in spring and summer to add some rock ‘n’ roll drama to your look.

purple-smokey-eyeshadows-makeup-trend-2015

  • Dark purple, plum and burgundy eyeshadows are a hot new trend and work well the smoky eye look above. Insider’s tip? Smudge some maroon lippy on your eyelids for instant effect!
  • Graduate your lip colour. Start dark in the centre of your lips and then let it fade towards the outer corners of your mouth. It allows you to wear bold colour without being overwhelmed by it.
  • Colour-pop your eyes! Add a really bright flash of colour to your eyelids to brighten your face and your mood. Bright blue, lime green, Day-Glo orange and turquoise were all on display on the catwalks to fabulous effect.

makeup-trends-2015-spring-summer-black-eyeliner

  • If you don’t like the grungy smudging of a smoky eye, you can still get in on the act with a more polished version. Using a dense black liquid liner, frame your eyes with a neat, tight black frame. Add a flick at the corners for the Hollywood starlet touch. It looks super sophisticated, especially with exaggerated lashes.

brown-eyeshadows-trend-2015

  • Another big trend for the season is brown eye shadow. This offers a much softer alternative to the other eye trends, encompassing shades of coffee, taupe, chocolate and sand. Use it with brown eyeliner and brown mascara for a flashback to the Seventies.

natural-makeup-trend-2015

  • Once again, the no-makeup look is back in vogue – but it can be one of the hardest to pull off! Flawless skin preparation and a bare minimum of colour will help your natural beauty to shine through. Use just a little translucent lip gloss on your lips and a barely-there tinted moisturiser.

bronze-make-up-trend-2015

  • We all love to sport a tan and so what’s not to like about the latest bronzing trend. Sun-kissed skin with beautiful bronze tones will make you look healthy and radiant. But just make sure it’s out of a tube and not from the sun – a real tan is a sign of skin damage and the leading cause of wrinkles.
  • Pale pink lipstick is always popular and it’s right back in fashion this year, lending a sixties or seventies vibe to your look – it works terrifically well with false lashes and a beehive do!

Hair Trend In 2015? It’s All About Colour!

3 / 17 / 154 / 22 / 15

pastel hair colour trend 2015

Everybody seems to be busy dyeing their hair in 2015. And this year, it’s not just about covering up the grey or brightening the blond. No chance. In fact, a legion of celebrities are leading the way with the latest trend – cool pastel shades ranging from lavender and blue to pink and purple. We’ve seen Rita Ora, Nicole Richie, Katy Perry, Lily Allen and Sienna Miller all rocking the look.

Dip dye the rainbow

One of the most exciting things about the current trend for colourful hair is that you can embrace it to the max or just dip your ends in the water, so to speak. While some brave souls are venturing out with full heads of purple hair, others are keeping it more conservative by simply adding a pink streak to their fringe or just dip dyeing the ends green or turquoise.

However you choose to do it, having pastel coloured hair is going to be interesting. One of the most popular combinations is glacial blond and baby doll pink, while dark haired girls are getting in on the act with stunning flashes of sapphire blue and emerald green. And if you’re really brave, you can mix and match to make a rainbow effect.

How to get the pastel effect

If you want to save money and go DIY with your hair colour, you can still achieve a stunning pastel look at home. It’s a simple three stage process and, as long as you buy quality products, you should have no problem in recreating pastel perfection.

• The first step in the process is to bleach your hair of its natural colour. This doesn’t mean using the bleach you keep under the sink—go to a reputable supplier of hair products and ask for the best quality bleach they have from a trusted brand. Once you have it, follow the instructions exactly. Apply the bleach to your hair and leave it for the specified time, being careful not let it get in your eyes or anywhere on your face. Then be sure to rinse it away thoroughly.
• The second stage is to tone your hair. This is the process to remove any brassy yellow tones left after bleaching, and it will mean that the result when you actually dye your hair will be much more even. Once again, invest in a good quality product and follow the instructions exactly.
• At last, you’re ready to dye your hair the pastel shade of your choice. Select the colour dye you want and then mix it to the right shade with some sulphate-free conditioner. Apply it your hair in a generous quantity and then wrap it in cling film. Pastel dye takes quite a bit longer than normal hair dye so allow plenty of time for the process. Once the allotted time is up, rinse it out and enjoy your spectacular new head of colourful hair.

Best Make Up Tips

3 / 4 / 154 / 22 / 15

pink-make-up

If you’re going to sit for a photographic portrait or a headshot, you certainly want to be sure you’re looking your best. Pick out what you’re going to wear in advance, make sure your hair is at its best – which counter intuitively means not going to the hairdresser the day before – and take particular care over your make up. This important as too much, too little or badly applied makeup can spoil the result.

Tips for perfect makeup application

If you’re unsure about applying makeup for your photo shoot, give yourself a few trial runs before the day. Follow the tips below, give yourself plenty of time and get feedback from friends and family on your try outs.

headshotlondon_random_fashion4

  • Prepare your skin in advance – exfoliate and moisturise well the day before your shoot. On the day, use just a light moisturiser or foundation base so your skin is ready for the application of makeup.
  • A beauty editor secret is to put blusher on your cheeks before you apply foundation – this way the rosy blush will look more natural.
  • Avoid putting foundation or concealer on your eyelids and use it with care beneath your eyes, as it can make wrinkles appear worse than they are.
  • For better, more even coverage, apply your foundation with a brush or makeup sponge.
  • For lighter coverage mix foundation with a little light moisturiser.
  • Apply powder to your T-zone – your forehead, nose and chin – to prevent shine that could be picked up by the bright studio lights or camera flash.
  • If you are particularly pale, bronzer can be flattering – but apply it with care. You don’t want the end result to look like you’ve been ‘tangoed’!
  • Add luminosity to your skin by mixing a pale, pearly eye shadow with your foundation.
  • If you don’t have any blusher to hand, experiment with a little dash of lipstick rubbed into your cheeks.
  • Apply blusher to the apple of your cheeks – smiling first will make them more prominent and make it easier to see where to apply it.
  • Use flesh coloured eye shadow as a base to even out your eyelids before you start building up layers of colour and shimmer.
  • Have your eyebrows professionally shaped – the difference it can make to your face is extraordinary. It can literally take years off your age.
  • When applying mascara, zigzag the brush from side to side to deposit more mascara onto each lash.
  • Using white eye-liner on your lower lids will make your eyes appear larger and brighter.
  • To intensify the colour of your eye shadow, press it against your eyelids with a fingertip rather than using a brush or applicator.
  • To stop lipstick bleeding, use a lip pencil. But match it to the colour of your lips, not your lipstick – otherwise when the lipstick wears off you’ll be left with a lip pencil frame around your mouth.
  • Don’t use an eye shadow with a reddish tinge or you could look like you’ve been crying.

headshotlondon_random_fashion10

Most importantly of all, remember less is more – excess makeup simply doesn’t look good so go for a more natural style that will enhance what you already have rather than disguising it.

Simple Makeup Hacks Every Woman Needs To Know

2 / 19 / 155 / 11 / 15

simple-make-up-tips-yanajane

This week I decided to find out how to make my life a lot easier and my make up sessions more efficient with top 5 simple make-up hacks. What I found is quite amazing and I definitely recommend you to try them all!

Hack 1: How to Preserve Your Mascara?

Mascaras can be quite expensive to replace every month and somehow they don’t really last  as long as you hope they would. As you just buy them they are great and do the job but in a few weeks you notice they are getting too dry and flaky. So, to ensure mascara last longer try add a saline solution / eye drops / eye drops for contact lenses if you are using contacts or just water to a flaky mascara formula to re-wet it and therefore make it last longer. However how do you get saline solution? Well, if your are brave enough you can easily prepare it yourself as it is only a sterilised / boiled water with a bit of salt or get it at a chemist.

Also don’t forget to replace it in a round 3 months as old mascara can collect bacteria and may lead to an eye infection.

Hack 2: How To Keep Under Eye Concealer from Creasing

Don’t you find it annoying when after finishing your make up you notice white concealer lines smudged underneath your eyes as soon as you get to work? Well I did and found that the best way to prevent it from creasing is to set your concealer with a light dusting of face finishing powder so that it does not slide off elsewhere. This should last for the rest of the day.

Hack 3: How To Make Your Eyelashes Look Thicker?

One of the simple ways to make your eyelashes thicker is to apply a little power either with an eye shadow brush or a cotton bud on your eyelashes before you apply mascara on. Gently apply the powder on the top of you eye lashes with your eyes closed as demonstrated on the picture below and once done apply the mascara. Don’t worry it being visible as mascara will cover the powder completely. What’s great is that in the end, baby powder creates almost an identical effect as primer – longer, fuller lashes!

thick-eyelashes-makeup-tip

Other effective ways are applying eye liner on your eye lids and using a eyelash curler as well as slow layering – all should do the trick!

Hack 4: What To Do If Your Eye Liner Ran Out?

If you find that you ran out of eye liner and you desperately need those beautiful cat-looking eyes then simply sweep your eye liner brush  against your mascara wand!if-you-ran-out-of-eye-liner-use-mascara
